Community Involvement
Service to our guests is our value. Service to our community is our duty.
Consistent with 1Foot 2Foot’s vision, mission, and values, Dr. Dairman created the Be A Goody2Shoes program to promote the giving of time, service, and money by our physicians and team members to those in need. It is our responsibility and pleasure to care for our community and hope our actions lead by example.
Do you have gently used shoes or sneakers that need a new home? 1Foot 2Foot has a year-round shoe collection program. At each Suffolk, North Suffolk, and Hampton office, you can find a large donation box to place your retired footwear. All footwear is inspected, cleaned, and donated to local shelters. Thanks to generous donations of insoles from Mile High Orthotic Labs, we can make some of these shoes even more comfortable for their new owners.
For more than 10 years our Suffolk Podiatrists have treated patients referred by the Western Tidewater Free Clinic free of charge. From heel pain to surgical reconstruction, these patients are treated like every other patient – like family.
If you come to one of our locations on a Friday, you’ll see most of our team wearing jeans. Before you judge us for being lazy before a weekend, you should know that each 1Foot 2Foot team member donates a dollar each week to the Relay for Life for the privilege of dressing down.
Have you ever heard of a doctor donating a dollar to charity every time YOU come in for an appointment? Dr. Dairman does and is working to get other practices around the country to follow in his footsteps! 1Foot 2Foot donates $1 for every billable patient visit to select 501(c)(3) charitable organizations that are near and dear to our team. The more patients we see, the more money we donate. Patients are asked to choose a charity on our Goody2Shoes Donation Card at each visit designating where we will donate the dollar for their visit. Four local charities are selected by the 1Foot 2Foot Leadership Team at the beginning of each calendar year. Certain months are designated as single organization donation months and all dollars collected for billable patient visits during these months will be directed to that charity. As an example, the month of November is dedicated to honoring Bill Dairman (Dr. Dairman’s father) who lost his battle with prostate cancer – donations in November go to Zero the End of Prostate Cancer.
The causes 1Foot 2Foot has supported in the past include:
- American Cancer Society – Relay for Life
- FoodBank of Southeastern Virginia
- Suffolk Literacy Council
- Western Tidewater Free Clinic
- Suffolk Humane Society
- American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
You too can donate to these charities by following the links above. 1Foot 2Foot cannot accept direct donations on behalf of these organizations, but we encourage everyone to give what you can when you can.
